Granted this isn’t jazz, but it’s always rewarding to see some of our favorite jazz musicians get a hold of the mainstream spotlight, even if just for a little bit. So whether it’s Brad Mehldau playing with John Mayer, Christian Scott blowing his horn alongside Thom Yorke and Atoms for Peace or Robert Glasper getting a lot of love on Kendrick Lamar’s new To Pimp a Butterfly, it always makes us smile a little inside with the hopes that some day jazz music might be a little less niche than it is now. In this latest series of collaborations comes “Holding On” by the English electronic duo Disclosure which puts Gregory Porter’s sultry vocals at the forefront of an invigorating dance anthem. Check out the live performance filmed at Wild Life Festival just a few weeks ago in the UK. You can download the song from iTunes or stream it on Spotify, taken from Disclosure’s new album Caracal available to pre order now from their official website.
