With Here Comes A Riot, the IDENTIKIT formation around guitarist Marzio Scholten presents a powerful follow-up to Garage Moi. In fact, quite literally, as the opening track “Here Comes A Riot” blends Scholten’s forceful chords with snappy sax lines accompanied by thumping drums.

With the EP, the band manages to convey a sound that is both easy to digest and imaginative at the same time. On Here Comes A Riot, IDENTIKIT purposefully blurs the lines between jazz and (indie-)rock music while retaining the same sort of mood throughout. Also, the fact each each song was recorded in a single take gives the EP the spontaneity it needs.

Check out the album below.

The album is for sale on iTunes and on IDENTIKIT’s Bandcamp page.

IDENTIKIT:

Marzio Scholten: Guitar (bandleader / composer)
Lars Dietrich: Alto
Jasper Blom: Tenor
Sean Fasciani: Bass
Niek de Bruijn: Drums

If you are in Benelux area, try and catch the band on the following dates:

July 5 – Concerto, Amsterdam
August 26 – Jazzkapel, Den Bosch
September 9 – Festival Plein 7, Roosendaal
