Music Monday for 16 January 2012

Due to some internal issues, I’m unable to post this week’s Line-Up. However, I couldn’t leave you high and dry on Music Monday so here’s some stuff that should tie you over until next week’s show.

I think we’re all waiting for Matt Stevens to put out another album or EP, but this set from the Jazz Gallerly from September of last year will certainly suffice. Also, be on the lookout for Stevens’ group at our SXSW day party at the Red House Pizzeria in Austin, Texas, on March 14th.

ERIMAJ is also playing our SXSW day party. Here’s his video for “Conflict of a Man”.

Finally, as a Morehouse Man, I’d be remiss if I let this Martin Luther King Day pass without giving it its proper credence. To commemorate today, take in the Miguel Atwood-Ferguson Ensemble’s rendition of Donny Hathaway’s “Someday We’ll All Be Free” featuring Thundercat on bass, Chris “Daddy” Dave on drums, Bilal on vocals, and many many others.

Anthony Dean-Harris hosts the modern jazz radio show, The Line-Up, Fridays at 9pm CST on 91.7 FM KRTU San Antonio. More of his writing can be found at his blog, In Retrospect and you can also follow him on Twitter.
