Drummer Terri Lyne Carrington is always ahead of the curve. She’s endlessly innovative and makes music that often seems to have deeper meaning at its core. On her upcoming new double album, Waiting Game, with her group Social Science of pianist Aaron Parks, guitarist Matthew Stevens, emcee & DJ Kassa Overall, vocalist Debo Ray, and multi-instrumentalist Morgan Guerin, is looking at a variety of social justice issues with a group as in tuned to innovation as she is. She just released two singles– the sprawling “Dreams and Desperate Measures (Pt. 2)” and very cool “Bells (Ring Loudly)” featuring Malcolm Jamal-Warner with his own spoken word poetry added to the Aaron Parks composition. Give the songs some love and look out for the Motéma release November 8th.

Waiting Game, the new album from Terri Lyne Carrington and Social Science, is out November 8th on Motéma Music.
