“Resting Warrior”, the new single from the supergroup R+R=NOW, has that certain Glasperian, balanced sense of sprawl where everyone gets a solo and plays that solo at the top of his game, tapping into a quality in the arranging reminiscent of the sharpest jams on Lionel Loueke’s Heritage album which Robert Glasper also produced. It was he who put this spectacular band together — Glasper on keys, Terrace Martin on synthesizer and vocoder, Christian Scott aTunde Adjuah on trumpet, Derrick Hodge on bass, Taylor McFerrin on synth and beatbox, and Justin Tyson on drums — and on their upcoming album, Collagically Speaking, out June 15 on Blue Note, this brilliant sense of ebullient balance comes out once again in spades. Check out “Resting Warrior” after the jump.

Robert Glasper – keys
Terrace Martin – synthesizer and vocoder
Christian Scott aTunde Adjuah – trumpet
Derrick Hodge – bass
Taylor McFerrin – synth and beatbox

Collagically Speaking is out June 15 on Blue Note Records and is available for pre-order.
