Multi-instrumentalist Jarryd Torff is at it again. We first covered Torff under his former moniker Cyrus back in 2013. He’s since joined Nikky Yanosky’s band as a saxophonist on top of DJing around Canada and the US under his own name. Which brings us to Islands his new EP now available on Soundcloud. This refreshing and upbeat EP of electronic music with tinges of jazz features Torff on saxophone, keys, synths and electric bass (as well as production) and Dan Bano on guitar and vocals. We thoroughly enjoyed the sixteen minutes of music produced by Torff which features a crafty use of samples and intoxicating beats. Most notable is “Fall in the City (40 West)” which brilliantly samples Frank Sinatra’s version of “Autumn in New York”. Check out Islands below the jump which “gleams from start to finish” according to THUMP and is hailed as “sonically refreshing and immediately danceable” by Exclaim!.
