Hippo, an electronic jazz trio out of Bristol, have a hard edge to them. They’ve got bounce and snap to them, with a sense of exploring groove wherever it takes them. Their first self-titled EP released last year was made for sweaty dancefloors… but respectfully. It’s pretty dope. This November, they’re set to release a new EP that promises to go in even further psychedelic directions, which based on the first single and video, “DAK” featuring guitarist Joe Price, sounds quite promising. Give the video some play below and be on the lookout for Hippo’s new EP, Binary Diet, later this year.
Doug Cave – composition, saxes, synths, production
Toby Perrett – drums
Joe Price – guitar
Recorded by Jim Barr at J&J Studios
Mastered by Luke Burnet-Smith
The tune emerged from a little piano nugget by Holysseus Fly (Ishmael Ensemble), and will be included on our second EP “Binary Diet” out in November.
