Demi Grace, née Grace Abidemi Ayorinde to Nigerian parents, is a singer, model, and music producer with grand aspirations. From her humble beginnings in her father’s church choir and her high school’s music program, Grace went on to earn a Bachelor’s degree in Business Management, to become the first model with dreadlocks in a major international hair ad campaign, and to perform with Beyoncé at the MTV Video Music Awards. Her message is simple: to empower young women around the world, to promote positivity, confidence, and diversity, and to step up as the voice of today’s adoptive citizen worldwide. Signed to Universal Music Group International earlier this year, Demi Grace is releasing a three-song Christmas EP tomorrow aptly titled Demi Xmas, which we are proud to premiere today on Nextbop.
Featuring Christmas classics “Winter Wonderland” and “Silent Night”, as well as a cover of Donny Hathaway’s “This Christmas”, each track has a very distinctive feel with “Winter Wonderland” showcasing old school jazz diva flair, “This Christmas” hinting more heavily at 1970s soul, and “Silent Night” featuring subdued and peaceful instrumentals.
What is for certain is that Demi Grace’s pristine vocals truly shine throughout, breathing in new life and freshness into some of our favorite standards, while never falling into the trap of clichés or tackiness as is so often the case with holiday music. These are three songs we’ll certainly be adding to our Christmas music rotation.
