News Brief: Vijay Iyer Wins Greenfield Prize, Portico Maida Vale Session on Gilles Peterson Tonight

Congratulations go to Vijay Iyer for winning the 2012 Greenfield Prize worth $30,000 from the Hermitage Artist Retreat. Iyer, the fifth recipient of the prize, will compose a piece for piano and five winds to be presented at La Musica International Chamber Music Festival in Sarasota, Florida, in April 2014. Portico Quartet's "Steepless" Remix Contest

Portico Quartet’s upcoming self-titled album releases this coming January 30th (January 31st in North America). The group has been dropping little nuggets on us here and there before the album drops (and it is quite a good album) but this move is pretty interesting. The band has put out a call to producers out there to remix their song, “Steepless” featuring the East London-based Sweedish singer, Cornelia.
