Thundercat, Flying Lotus, & BADBADNOTGOOD – “King of the Hill” (Stream)

October 31, 2018 By Anthony Dean-Harris

It's the collaboration one had to expect would happen eventually. As part of the BRAINFEEDER 10th anniversary collection, BRAINFEEDER X, celebrating a decade of releasing their particular brand of melding genres, producer Flying Lotus, bassist/vocalist Thundercat, and Canadian quartet BADBADNOTGOOD have released a song together, "King of the Hill". It'll all be part of the … [Read more...]

BADBADNOTGOOD – “Confessions, Pt. III” feat. Colin Stetson (Stream)

September 13, 2017 By Anthony Dean-Harris

One of the best qualities of our friends from up north, BADBADNOTGOOD, is their can't stop, won't stop nature. They seem to always have something cooking. This new song, fresh out the kitchen, is the latest extension of their song "Confessions", once again pitting Leland Whitty's saxophone against a guesting Colin Stetson while the subdued nature of the track altogether is … [Read more...]

Ben Gray’s Favorite Jazz Albums of 2016

December 21, 2016 By Ben Gray

December 8, 2016 By Anthony Dean-Harris

Like a week after their one-off gig in Austin last month, BADBADNOTGOOD jaunted off to Los Angeles to play a set for Red Bull Sound Select and Pitchfork, including their performing "Seasons (Waiting On You)" with their friend Future Islands' Sam Herring (I met him at Fun Fun Fun Fest, too, and he's a ton of fun to be around). Watch video from their set after the jump. … [Read more...]

BADBADNOTGOOD – “Skating” (Video)

December 29, 2015 By Anthony Dean-Harris

BADBADNOTGOOD recently appeared on CBC's Strombo Show and played their holiday appropriate take on Vince Guaraldi's "Skating". Leland Whitty continues to add more texture to this band with great results. Also, I must say, I didn't see them going for a darker angle on this one. One could say that's what these guys do in their pocket, but it's still a surprise seeing what they … [Read more...]
