Pianist Frank Woeste has been helming a project, which to our chagrin we are only now learning about, called “The Libretto Dialogues”, in which he duets with other key figures of the jazz cognoscenti including Mark Turner, Tigran Hamasyan, and Larry Grenadier, akin to saxophonist Ben Wendel’s “The Seasons” Project. It goes to show that great minds think alike or maybe that imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. It all depends on where you stand… In any case, you can watch the latest iteration of “The Libretto Dialogues” below, featuring Woeste on Rhodes and pianist Baptiste Trotignon performing “The Stargazer” off Woeste’s 2016 ACT album Pocket Rhapsody. The other twenty videos from the series can be found on YouTube and are sure to amount to a worthwhile binge-watching session.
