It’s always fun being on the other side of the KRTU membership drive. I still make what is essentially the usual show but there’s this additional burden that I know I am choosing to take. It’s a show with some artificially-latched philosophical quandary. However, the quandary is for me and my usual self-indulgence. You, dear reader, just get to enjoy the music as it is here.
The Line-Up for 11 October 2019
GoGo Penguin – Time-Lapse City
The energy is so hype it had to go in the 1 spot.
Jill Scott – The Light of the Sun
Chick Corea Trio / Christian McBride / Brian Blade – Serenity
This genteel song is perfect for the first half of the hour.
Tomeka Reid Quartet – Aug. 6
Now that this album is out, I’ll be getting into it more, but what I’ve heard of it so far is immensely fun.

Flying Lotus – About That Time
Miles Okazaki – Rise and Shine
Upon learning of new Okazaki, I jumped at playing him here.
Rez Abbasi – Mystery Rising
The same could also be said of Rez Abbasi. This is a rather dope set of newness.
MF DOOM – Licorice
The Royal Krunk Jazz Orkestra – Black Indian Rain Dance
It was nice returning to this song in the hour again.

Mustafa Khaliq Ahmed – Backyard Jam
A friend was talking with me the other day about my playing this dude on the show and it sticking with him. It was a cool moment that he actually remembered so I figured I’d call the moment back.
Chrissie Hynde w/ The Valve Bone Woe Ensemble – Meditation on a Pair of Wire Cutters
I heard this song some time last week when Kory played it and I took to it quickly, so I figured I’d keep it around.
Steve Lehman Trio + Craig Taborn – qPlay
I really was just finding an excuse to keep The People I Love in play.

Toro y Moi – Intro/Chi-Chi
Portico Quartet – Double Helix
I latched onto this song hard when I reviewed it last week.
