Frank Woeste was born in Germany in 1976 and grew up in a family of music lovers. « Everbody played an instrument , we played a lot of different music together . All kinds of music from classical chamber music to jazz and the Beatles » As a teenager Frank is taking piano lessons at the Bremen Conservatory and is playing at the local jazzclub with passing by jazzmusicians. After spending a year in the US he moves to Paris in 1997 to study at the Paris Conservatory .The school is a meeting point for a lot of young artists and Frank is rapidly being part of the local parisian jazzscene.
After graduating from the conservatory in 2001 Frank won a number of 1st or 2nd prizes in international jazz competitions : the Steinway Prize at the Montreux Piano Competition, Jazz Hoeilaart International Competition or the Gexto European Jazzcontest. At this time he s being noticed as a new talent in the bands of trumpet player Mederic Collignon or singer Youn Sun Nah. In 2003 he starts his own trio with Mathias Allamane on bass and Matthieu Chazarenc on drums .
Next to his work with his trio or solo Frank continues playing with the groups of Mederic Collignon, Ibrahim Maalouf and Flavio Boltro. Frank is known to have a unique sound on the Fender Rhodes combing the natural sound of the the rhodes piano with different effects. These last years Frank has shared the stage with many great musicians , among others: Michel Portal, Louis Sclavis, Dave Douglas, John Scofield, Rosario Guliani, Malik Mezzadri, Dominic Miller,Till Bronner, Stephane Belmondo, André Ceccarelli, Aldo Romano, Sylvain Luc, Nelson Veras, Gretchen Parlato, etc. He has played on many of the biggest festivals like Jazz á Vienne, Jazz in Marciac, Montreal Jazzfestival, Paris Jazzfestival, Ginza Jazzfestival Tokio, London Jazzfestival, Salzau etc.
