Portico Quartet’s upcoming self-titled album releases this coming January 30th (January 31st in North America). The group has been dropping little nuggets on us here and there before the album drops (and it is quite a good album) but this move is pretty interesting. The band has put out a call to producers out there to remix their song, “Steepless” featuring the East London-based Sweedish singer, Cornelia.

The grand prize is a SoundCloud Pro account, all three Portico albums on vinyl, a limited edition EP, and a pair of tickets to one of the group’s upcoming (non-festival) gigs. Two runners up will get a SoundCloud Lite account and a copy of the aforementioned hella dope upcoming album from the band. Check out the details, different song components, and entries so far at the SoundCloud page for the contest.

Honestly, I don’t even know if he would do the contest, but I just want to hear what Vijay Iyer would do with this track. It’s not like producing of this sort is something outside his wheelhouse. Otherwise, it’ll be really cool to hear what will come from all this. There aren’t that many jazz remixes (we call those covers, then standards) so this is an interesting idea.
