The one-two punch of Joshua Redman and Brad Mehldau has been a duo to watch for a good two decades now. The last time this duo teamed up was for Mehldau's 2010 opus, the Jon Brion-produced Highway Rider. Now the two are getting together once more for Joshua Redman's new album of ballads, Walking Shadows, which releases on the Nonesuch label on May 7th. The album is available for pre-order now and you can check out a track from the upcoming album, "Final Hour", after the jump.

The album, which features and is produced by Mehldau, includes bassist Larry Grenadier, drummer Brian Blade, and an orchestral ensemble conducted by Dan Coleman with additional arrangements by Patrick Zimmerli. From the press release, Redman states, “I couldn’t be more delighted to have the opportunity to do a ballads record with strings, with Brad producing, and my other great friends and collaborators all involved. I’ve wanted to do this for a long time.” We're definitely looking forward to this one.
