Glasper to Appear on Fallon, BET/Centric Awards, Maxwell Mini-Tour, and Essence Festival

Things continue to come up roses for Robert Glasper whose perpetual touring and stacking of accolades doesn't seem to be waning in the least. What's most exciting right now is Glasper's return to Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, this time with the whole Experiment in tow to play their version of "Smells Like Teen Spirit". In addition to this, Glasper will be sitting in with The Roots so make sure you know June 20th is Must See TV.

Other things to look forward to in the world of RG-- Glasper was recently nominated for a Centric Award (Remember when BET made BET on Jazz? That became Centric.) against the likes of Common, Estelle, Robin Thicke, and Tyrese. The BET/Centric Awards broadcast July 1. After that, The Experiment will also be playing the Essence Music Festival in New Orleans on July 7. As if a line-up of D'Angelo (!), Aretha Franklin, and Ledisi wasn't incentive enough.

Finally, any lover of R&B has to be excited for the return of Maxwell (and hopefully for the release of blackSUMMERS'night at some point). The crooner of formerly awesome hair/currently decent brush cut will be playing his entire catalog in a few two-night engagements in Los Angeles (Staples Center, July 20-21), Atlanta (Phillips Arena, July 27-28), and Newark (Prudential Center, August 3-4) and, of course, Glasper and the Experiement (with the very talented Marc Colenberg in place instead of Chris "Daddy" Dave) will be backing along with Kenneth Whalum III (who, along with the rest of that horn section of Keyon Harold and Saunders Sermons, really did give Maxwell's most recent album, BLACKsummers'night, a little extra oomph).

So, yeah, Glasper's having a busy summer. Hopefully, you'll be around to take part in it. In the meantime, check out this video of the Robert Glasper Experiment covering Little Dragon's "Twice" from our friends at REVIVE Music
